I did a 3 year temperature study in 10",20",30" corn for the very reason people said it did not cool down at night. I could not find the data to support that view. Beans I would think would not be much different. Temp in narrow rows did not get as hot during the day and converged back with the others at night.
Here is a link if interested. It is the combined 3 years data. Scroll down for the summer time temps. Pages 13-104 is June,July,Aug 3 year combined data.
