Corn was always the BIG crop or bigger roi, seed advancements in both crops have vastly changed. Imho beans are pretty hardy. With a bit of fungidide and insecticide treatment you can get by with less optimal conditions. Planting instead of drilling, better planter equipment have allowed for better depth control, better closing(seed to soil contact). Last year we had a few beans get frosted but was before the cotyledon was open. No damage was done. If memory serves me they were planted April 22 ish
