Don't call it a 'gator, it's a Ranger
Actually, I have one but it is still in the package. My last Amazon order included a HM-10 BLE module and also a ESP32-WROOM-32D.
I am a big fan of the DroneBot Workshop series of videos and he had a segment describing ESP32 and that model in particular. I may investigate mine this Sunday. I will watch the video again. The video shows how to add the ability to work with this family to my Arduino IDE. Not that this is necessarily the best environment but I'm familiar with it.
From Bill's description in the video it seems like it outperforms an Arduino Uno is about every respect with built in Bluetooth and Wi-Fi, more memory, faster speed etc.
For those that have an interest in this type of thing I would suggest checking out the DroneBot workshop website which can lead you to his videos. Bill is from Canada and speaks the "Good Kings English". I have a tough time with the videos where English was not the presenters native language. Bill seems to have a good balance of keeping it simple for folks like me.
