Walnut Grove MN USA
Went ice fishing about a year ago. Met the other guys at the bar first nite. Local asks where we are fishing, tell him the guide has us in a fish house. Since it is a very small community the local says “oh you are on the bone pile”. Us “Huh?” Years ago when the water got really low an Indian burial ground was exposed. Authorities came in and tarped it and covered it up with lots of dirt so it wouldn’t happen again. Guides father actually hooked a skull and brought into his boat but then all his electronics quit working so got rid of it. We fish Saturday without issue. Sunday morning we are out early and there is 8 of us. Plan is 4 guys pair off and go on snowmobiles other four pile into a 4 seat gator and head to the fish house. One sled will not start, even with ether. Two of the guys have 60 years mechanical experience between them, one of them owns the sled, cannot get it going. So 2 go off on the other sled and 6 pile into the gator and off we go. Looked like a damn clown car! Dropped 4 of us off at the fish house and the other two take the gator and go off to their spot about a quarter mile away. About 10 am buddies phone rings, it’s his brother who has the gator, which will not start! He calls the guide who ends up hooking onto our trailer and bringing it out to us. He stops at the fish house first to check gas and batteries then heads to the dead gator. After awhile I look out the window and see the gator moving on its own and heading towards us. They stop at the house and say they are going to the landing to try the sled again. Sled fires right up! Fish the rest of the day and head back in at dark and now the pickup won’t start! Jump start that. Never did figure out why the sled or the gator wouldn’t start then just fire up like normal. I call it the South Dakota triangle from now on. Fishing was Ok.
