Subject: RE: Ag leader incommand 1200 running a Great Plains 1625a

Near Intersection of I-35 & I-90 Southern Mn.
One approach would be to use an Ag Leader Clutch Control Module on the Great Plains. There would need to be an SC110 smart switch box or switch box and Auxiliary Input Module in tractor as well. These modules work with the InCommand 1200 and many other Ag Leader CAN based displays. The Clutch Control Module can control up to 12 individual sections or clutches. A second and even a third Clutch Control Module can be daisy chained together to provide up to 36 sections.

The Clutch Control Module works under the principle of using electricity to STOP planting. This is the opposite logic of most of our thinking with sprayers where electricity is used to open a valve or something to apply chemicals etc. Your Tru-Count clutches likely work under that same principle so it would be quite simple to connect the Clutch module outputs to your clutches.

One problem that needs to be considered is the amount of current that the clutches need to work properly. Some clutches take a fair amount and will overload the Clutch Control Module. The way around that problem is to use a relay at each clutch. The relays get their power from a pair of fairly heavy wires directly from the tractor battery. The Clutch Control module then only needs to trigger the relays whose electrical load is small. You may already have relays on the planter as the other system would possibly have the same problem.

There would be some additional wiring to tie the various Ag Leader components together.
