Valley, NE | I'm usually a one man crew, so a cold sandwich with a bag of chips goes a long ways for me, and my wife isn't much in the kitchen, so if i have a bad meal.........it's my boss's fault....LOL
When we work calves or have a big fencing project, and I recruit some of the freeloading hunters and friends to help, I always make sure they are well fed, mostly because they are poorly paid. I only exchange hunting access for help on the farm when i need a few able bodies over the year, and since i'm pretty handy in the kitchen, we usually start with breakfast crockpot overnight casserole-(sausage, ham, hashbrowns, cheese, eggs all thrown in a crockpot over night served on a tortilla or open faced toast) or breakfast burritos, or homemade biscuits and gravy. then noon meal is typically hamburgers with chips and all the fixings or BBQ beef/pork sandwiches with all the fixings off the smoker, if it's cold out, then a big ol' pot of chili. I don't do evening meal, if we're working that hard, typically some busch lattes are satisfactory..
I feed them like kings and they always come back when i need a hand. | |
