Subject: RE: RTK Tower ?

NE South Dakota Clark, SD
2 miles max is the industry standard for anything vertical. I would rather be closer, but if I had a fixed base at 2 miles, I would probably not move it unless tile or ditches were going to be .2 grade or less. Most modern ag RTK systems start with 1 or 2 cm potential variance at 0 baseline and add 1-2 cm per km from the base. This is rated on the horizontal axis and usually vertical axis is about double. There are some survey grade systems that start at .5 cm and add .5 cm per km, but I am guessing very few farmers are using them as cost is in the 60-80k for base and rover and they are not going to steer your tractor.
