Subject: RE: Why metric?

The Internet

The old imperial system might have some advantages in that some of the measurements are easier to visualise, but the metric system is way easier to actually use. Everything divides into everything and is in base 10, so it is easier to use with calculators. I'm yet to find a calculator that gives fractional figures.

It seems like nearly all of the people on here that give reasons for not wanting to use metric just do the same childish responses about going to the moon etc.

You certainly do have a lot of fields in the US that are either full sections or fractions of, but by no means all of it is. I've not been in one field here that has been marked out to fit a particular area, they are all marked out to fit the landscape, so the means of measuring them doesn't matter.
