Subject: RE: New Crop Corn

Current ratio favors Soybeans if going off of the 2.5 ratio and Dec corn compared to Nov Beans. Will there be a bidding war for acres as we get closer to spring?
2021 weather will have big bearing on new crop prices(as usual), but corn carry out has to be less ( due to 2020 derecho) moving into 2021 harvest and a good chunk of corn belt not sitting real good heading into 2021 crop as far as subsoil goes.  IF drought( or even drier than normal) situation developed....this thing could really get explosive.
When looking at US soil water holding capacity map, the drier areas of the Midwest ( especially Iowa) are in areas that retain subsoil pretty good. I believe that carried them thru enough to not have “disastrous “ yields in 2020 due mainly to a decent subsoil  profile heading into spring 2020. Could be different story this year.
