Good question.
I think that I used to identify with Simon; as good or better than most, just had to gloss over any mistakes and I was good to go.
Then later, I started feeling sorry for the Woman, who had needed forgiveness, approving of her thankfulness, and disappointed that Simon was messed up.
I have realized that I have plenty of my own mistakes, I'm not actually better than either of them,
So I guess that as I move forward with life I am getting more thankful for the forgiveness and love that I have experienced.
Being humble like that is a very big step forward in the right direction. God knows we are weak in the flesh. But if we are trying hard to be as good as we can and are keeping the demons at bay I think He casts a favorable eye in our direction. |
