Subject: Maybe not EXACTLY right to compare.....

Gettysburg, PA

Whenever I see a discussion about Nitrogen (or any nutrient) use/need in crops, I often think of forests and wonder how all those trees grow without added fertilizer. There has to be some recycling of nutrients and heck, maybe even nutrient additions from the breakdown of the subsoil material. Again, I recognize that we can't compare them apples to apples, but, it is something to ponder in this discussion. Well, at least for parts of the country where forests would grow if it weren't cleared.
