SC Minnesota
I am c. rye ahead of beans and have been in the past and still some now c. rye ahead of corn. Last fall I was able to get some beans off earlier and planted an oats, c. rye, and kale mix in September and had some good growth. The corn I no-tilled in 2020 was wheat in 19 that had a 8 way cover crop mix planted in August after the straw was baled. It was my best yielding field of corn this fall. The corn planted into the c. rye in the past was strip-tilled in the fall and planted when fit in the spring. Burndown was done after planting before the corn has emerge. I also apply N with the planter to account for any tie-up of N from decomposing rye.
