I’d agree with that.

For me the toughest time with switching to no till was the first 2 or 3 years. It got easier after building some structure and biology to better breakdown residue left on the surface. When I hear someone say they want to try no till I figure they have a very small chance of sticking with it because if it doesn’t suit them the first year or two they will go back to their comfort zone in tillage. If I hear someone say they want to learn how to no till they are already half way there by having the mindset to study it before they start it and will then be more likely likely to learn from any failures and make it work better the next time.

As far as the nitrogen thing goes I do see better N efficiency in corn after making the switch but that was also the same time I switched from fall or early spring applied NH3 to split applications of UAN at planting and side dress.
