Subject: Herbicide program when planting soybeans green

Eastern Kansas
We have cereal rye planted on a few fields of corn stalks that we plan to plant to soybeans this spring. In the past we have always terminated the rye a few weeks before planting. This year we were thinking about planting into the rye while it is still living and then terminate sometime in the next week.

For people who are doing this ("planting green") are you adjusting your herbicide program or timing of applications at all? I have heard some people claim the rye can metabolize your residual herbicides if you have them in with your burndown spray and then you wont have as much residual/weed control later in the season. The rye is seeded at about 40 pounds per acre so it isn't quite thick enough to choke weeds out on its own.
