| ...it depends how much of the actually tooth is still there. You need to have adequate tooth structure to support the filling -- if it is composite (white) or amalgam. If there is not enough tooth to support the filling, it may not last.
When there is not much natural tooth left...the crown becomes a better option. However, the crown has limitations, too. You still need some natural tooth to support the crown. A crown can be a very long lasting restoration. | |
