yes it seems like poor practice but just cause there a networking company doesn't exclude them from poor practice. Look at others the have had issues Cisco had issues more than once, Juniper had hardcoded back doors , F5 BIG-IP had many issues and some of those were with equipment . Not sure any vender is immune
