ESW ND | Different crop, but I filled the 4 row planter up, 3 boxes beans and 1 box field peas and planted it in the same field after I planted some oats. Both came up good. Eventually after the oats got in the 26" range, you could still see the field peas, but the soys weren't visible for quite some time before that even. Cut it for dry hay. The soys maybe only got around 14" and a little leafy. They dried up to about nothing. The field peas were blooming, podded up and tall. I won't bother with any beans like that again, glad I got that bag for nothing. Also, it was pretty dry, I'm not sure what soys water demand is. Field peas seem to love competition. They grow to try and be the tallest in with what you plant them in. Same goes for when planting with barley. That makes some good feed too, either hayed or combining them. | |
