My experience was about 6 weeks with limited work. Didn’t have much choice but to get after it when Labor Day hit - my chore help went back to school. My best advice is to follow the advice you get and your work conditioning will be back rather quickly. You also will know what you don’t want to try, at least a second time.
I was in decent running shape before the hernia developed.
