Eighty Four, PA | John,
Part of the Wikipedia is correct, that the town was originally Smithville. The remainder is speculation.
I saw a few years ago in my Uncle Alvin's hand writing that a postal representative was in the area the day that Mr. Smith, for whom Smithville was named, turned 84 years of age and 84 people attended his birthday party. Thus Eighty Four became the new name of the town.
