All the questions and searching on NAT about shops, lofts, etc.. mine is finally almost complete with exception of a few final touches. I am a SSTO and built not on a budget but let’s just say I don’t have dad or grandpas checkbook or a trust fund to dip into. Had the building erected then either did things myself or sub contracted out work. This was built for way less than most comparable shops including accessories like workbenches and office. Been collecting things and planning for close to a decade. Finally all came together this summer. Was saving for the concrete pour, then couldn’t stop progress as I was most of the way there.
Specs: 60x120 built by contractor
Contacted out gutters, concrete and ceiling insulation. Everything else was done by my household and help from a niece and nephew.
Took a week off work to finish ceiling while the building was empty from concrete pour. Loft was then built 56x10. Shelving was dug out of the dumpster at dollar general with permission. Loft railing step treads and bookshelves were made of ash from our farm. Local guy with bandsaw did the milling. A lot of reclaiming like office ceiling and walls were all reclaimed items. Large work bench top is hospital doors with free or flea market cabinets underneath. Loft supports are old JD row cultivator tool bars. All painted with DMI factory paint from a closed down dealer. Did buy wall control metal pegboard for the wall. Will post pictures and answer any questions. Again, thanks for all the advice and posts on here.
As a side note, have been working out of a 30x40 for years. Mostly laying in stones in the driveway.
