It’s common to need to replace the inner/outer tub bearings and seals. Once the seal fails it doesn’t take long for the inner bearing to go and then the water migrates into the outer bearing.
After cleaning the bearing and seal seating areas thoroughly, I always put silicone of some type on the back side of the seal to further prevent water from getting past. If the seal gets damaged or twisted during installation, the bearings will go bad in a short time.
