OK - thank you guys..

I can go to my gmail account in my browser, no worries.

But my default email is with the big Australian telco Telstra's 'bigpond'. It does not give me any grief.

So what I need to do is delete reference to my gmail account in Windows Live Mail, then my problem will be no more.

I'll be able to drop into my gmail account every couple of days, see what's going on there, and Win Live mail will stop giving me the error I mentioned.

? Any problems?
