Another thing I wish I would have done: put a large conduit from the main panel in the house through the wall to the basement/crawl space, and to the attic. Then if at some point you need another circuit installed (and you will!) it is simple to run the wiring.
My electrician did this (ranch over a basement).
Like others I also added cable and network/phone boxes in each room but the wrinkle from my electrician was that he cut a hole in the corner of the box and ran conduit from the box down thru the subfloor. Because of this I can run wired ethernet throughout the house and simply run the cable up the conduit to the wall box. When the next big wiring change comes I can easily move to that standard by replacing the wire from below and not have to get into the walls.
