My nook can change font, I assume the Kindle would too. You can both buy and rent ebooks. Many libraries are starting to and together where you can set up an account and checkout a book for 2 weeks just like a hard copy of the book. After 2 weeks you can either renew the checkout or it will expire and you won't be able to open it anymore. I really like my nook.
