Pontiac, IL. | Canned beef recipe starts with the canning the beef recipe. We fry/brown it first in half butter, half lard. Then put in jars and cook for 3 hrs. (1-1/2 hrs. in pressure cooker). Add a little water that you get from rinsing out skillet. When opening, just add some diced onions and/or mushrooms. Heat up and add flour or cornstarch to make gravy. Frying the beef ahead of canning, DEFINITELY, gives it a better flavor. | |
