Depending on the windows license, the OS may be tied to one particular hardware configuration and you may not be able to move it.
The kids use Mint for almost everything. A couple games don't work. Setup is not quite as easy, but you should be good with some technical ability.
We've been transitioning all spreadsheets and documents to google drive. We can share the documents with anyone, and you can edit them anywhere. Works great when you forget you're spray sheet at the farm and need the mix out at the field. Just pop it up on your phone and go.
