Nebraska | I think you would get some benefit in the growth department by crossing with either one. Marbling not so much in my experience. Our straight Herfs seem to marble well without crossing but could use a bit more early growth(WW)-compared to F1s-but seem to do ok at yearling though. Depends on your main source of Hereford genetics in your current herd though I suppose. An F1 female is hard to beat in a commercial herd, especially an Angus x Hereford one, either red or black. We are going to be using more red Angus to make F1's i our program rather than black so that they are all the same color +- the white face. | |
