Subject: RE: Silage bunkers vs drive over pile

Alberta
We built a bunker out of cement lego blocks. Dirt floor in sandy soil so for the most part no muck in the rain. I prefer the bunk, because there is less cost in plastic, less surface area and less chance of spoilage or wind damage to plastic. Also we live in western Canada where temps can get in the
minus 30 to minus 40. The silage next to the plastic will freeze up to a foot thick when its real cold. so the less area covered with plastic, the better the feed.
