just a tish NE of central ND
I've been out of milk for a quite a while so maybe things have changed ??If I got this right, You are producing 22 lbs of milk per day?Where is the other 65 lbs+ of milk that should be there going to? I can see why your butterfat test are where they are if you are producing so little of milk. Its a percentage test.
I'm out of the milk business for a decade + so I'm out of the loop as to what the feed additives are and I do you know YOU SHOULD NOT be feeding medicated calf feed to milking cows.
.........monensin?? ?? IS THAT NOT AN ANTIBIOTIC?? ?? YOU can not be seriously feeding an antibiotic and putting the milk into a bulk tank and sale it for public distribution. That would be a big NO NO.
Running low or out of feed for a day will break any dairy operation.Especially running out of water and grains.Lactation doesn't work like that.Cows don't rebound back to where they were producing before they got shorted on MEG CALS of energy and proteins or water..They dry up doing that.
I know its not what you asked about, but I hope this helps you.
Enlighten me if not,
