| A skid steer post hole digger is something I have been wanting for several years but not something we would use often enough to spend $2,500 to buy a new one and used ones are almost new price. I was in the process of gathering parts to convert an old Winpower digger we had to hydraulic drive for skid steer use when I found someone on Facebook marketplace parting out an old power company truck and I was able to buy the auger drive for $500. The drive is quite a bit bigger than most post hole digger drives but it has a 2" hex shaft and both of our skid steers have high flow hydraulics.
I was already building a receiver hitch mount so I added mounts to pin the drive on and got a 2" hex drive hub to weld onto the 12" auger grandpa bought new in '58. It only spins about 35 rpm on a 30 gpm hydraulic system but for less than $800 I can live with it.
