You might have a dirty mouse too. Like a piece of lint stuck in the wrong place. What kind of mouse do you have? Wired or wireless?
I have to have the wireless mouse/keyboard receiver plugged into a USB port on the front of our desktop to make it work correctly. It does not work well when plugged into ports on the rear of the computer.
