western iowa,by Denison | we are feeding a pile we put up in 2016-it was 200 acres and has kept very well-my vote is make earlage-and buy a very good tarp-thicker and put lots of tires on it-I have made earlage down to 14% as long as you pack it -it will be ok-a good silage chopper and kp(roller mill) is needed-as it busts up whole kernel's and cobs-we have feed it to cows at 7-10# head a day-really adds condition to cows
white cobs will help it ferment-and added feed for little cost-at 200 bushel corn should be around 8 ton acre yield-we packed the pile on dirt and have feed every crumb!
If you were closer I would bring my cutter-I charge $70 a acre for earlage-be about 40 loads | |
