Kingston, Ohio | I have a 2 year old who has been slow to talk. He is a middle child. His older brother was an early talker and talks for him.
At my son’s 18 month appointment, the pediatrician said he should be saying more words and he was referred to speech therapy.
It is covered by our insurance.
I really thought it was kind of ridiculous taking him to speech therapy so young but what could it hurt? He is a shy boy and getting him around others who didn’t know his nonverbal language could help. He has been to a few months of weekly appointments but I have since stopped taking him to have my 3rd baby.
It has seemed to help, he says quite a few more words now.
We’ve always read to our kids, at least once a day. He was just slower at talking. He will be a great listener someday :) | |
