Big Sky Country
Ingomar, mt.

Biggest wool shipping station at one time and monster whitetail country.

Milwaukee RR had a tanker parked where rail crossed the main drag. Water.

As Bill Stewart testified to legislature in Helena, re water

In Ingomar, we wash our feet
We wash our socks
We pour what's left
On the hollyhocks

Beans, cheese and steaks. Barmaid told me Bill had a chunk of cheese in the basement --- huge and so old she didn't think you could d not it with a hammer.

Jersey Lilly had outdoor priveys.

We were wildcatting about 20 miles county road, then ten miles of two track, straight north, towards Jordan. Think we opened one gate. About 1980.

Working evening tower, we'd hit Bills hotel about midnite. Found a Time magazine in pile on " reading table" in hall. 1933? "Will Hitler be threat to Peace?"

Clean up and walk across the street.. Beer beans cheese steaks beer.

Bill worked for RR and kinda had Ira Perkins attitude " you can get a lot done, if you don't sleep"

My brother and me playing pool, Bill puttering, look at the clock--- about 3:30 am

Holy crap, Bill--- sorry, we didn't realiz it was is late

That's ok, I still got stuff to do.

Ain't ya tired?

I'll lay down in a while,

Don't liquor board ever come around.

Ya, seems like a couple times a yr they wander in late.

...?

Ya, they talk and I listen.

Then I talk, tell them this is only place for a long ways, if people are hungry I'm feeding them, if they want a drink, I'm pouring-- you fellas want anything?

Man, have I had fun and met good people in places like that!
