Texas
How far apart are y’all putting posts? I’ve been stopping as I drive by fences lately and seems they are really inconsistent. Seems popular on new fences they put the posts really close. Like 10’, I even have seen some 8’ ones. maybe it’s a rancher status symbol. Old fences are up to 20’ apart and the ones that have good solid corners seem to be holding up great. Bad corners and they are loose and have lots of stays added now.

I put my posts 4 average steps On my first run and it looks a little excessive. I drove by one that was 5 steps and it looked to be holding up great. I’m thinking of going to 5 on all the fences that run North south. I didn’t measure but I bet 5 is 14ft. Everything I’m working on right now is good and flat ground.
