Did he get a operators manual for the tractor? If not order him one and you sit a study it then go to him and read important parts of it so he understands. They are a very simple tractor but to a 93 year old could be very intimidating
Please specify what options the tractor has, cab, loader, 3 SCVs.
Price doesn't sound out of line. I just bought a 5093E with 2400 hrs 524nsl loader, cab, and 3SCVs for $37500. About 2013 I bought the 5083E with 400hrs, cab, 2SCVs and gave just under 40k for it and still had to put a loader on.
According to tractorhouse he just paid average retail price, no crime there.
