Subject: The end of Intel

Altoona, WI
Apple, the other day, announced new Mac computers powered by their own silicon. Systems on a chip, using desktop class versions of chips powering iPads and iPhones. Nearly instant boot, extremely fast and powerful, orders of magnitude over common competitor Intel powered units. Way, way more battery life in the laptops. The MacBook Air has no fan, completely silent. All iPad & iPhone apps will now run on any Apple device. All software currently running on Intel Macs will run on the new Macs as well. Exception being Windows OS. I don't think too many will miss it or were even taking advantage of that capability.

It is my belief that this is the handwriting on the wall for Intel. Like Apple or not, they are and always have been the trendsetter in computing. They stick their necks out, others ridicule them, and soon follow suit. PC makers will ultimately be demanding ARM chips for their systems and Intel will be reduced to rubble. It will likely be the end of Windows as well. Ag software companies need to be taking notice of this and adjusting to survive what is coming.
