They make a point about all the profit going to the packers, however, I don't think regulating farm size is going to change that at all. 2500 pigs over 55 pounds really isn't all that much anymore. I know it's a touchy topic with some guys, but most of the new barns are around that size. Is it a similar story with other livestock that the sizes they picked would eliminate many new-farmer start ups?
I'm not against trying to prevent mega-farms that do squeeze everyone else out, and I'm not against regulation to prevent jbs from having 200% profit margins while squeezing producers, but this bill seems to be targeting the wrong people.
That’s because the authors of his bill don’t care about any livestock farmers.
Their goal is to ELIMINATE animal agriculture.
This bill would be a death blow to agriculture.
