This spot was logged over 20 yrs ago, so mostly small white birch, maple and some fir grew back. The easiest way now is to slash down the trees and leave a bit of stump sticking up, try and fall the trees in a common direction. Then next yr take excavator and pile the trees and pull stumps it as it goes.
That area had a lot of rock to deal with and a wet hole, so I dug a pond there that I'm hoping will now dry up the area overall. I don't think this area was ever really farmed before, as everything around it was fields and picked of rock. Finally got it conquered, a few hundred yrs after the rest.
