Coastal South Carolina | I have taken up two strands about 3K ft long but not 8 miles. What I did was I took a spinning Ginny and mounted it vertices on some saw horses. I walked the fence and took it loose from the post, separating top wire from bottom. I placed them a couple feet apart. When it was all taken loose from post, I had my son wind it up while I pulled it. One thing I did learn when trying to reuse wire.....when taking it up, move pieces on spinning Ginny out to make larger roll of wire.
