I've seen a long fence built with pipe and cable that they used a washer bent to the contour of the pipe and welded a nut to it and the cable. It was 5/8 or 3/4 cable i believe. All you did was wind up the cable and the heavy contoured washer kept it tight and you can tighten when needed. Should work with any round post.
