SW So Dakota | Took my old cripples to the sale today, anywhere from 10-16 year old cows. Wasn't expecting much and didn't get much. However as I was watching the weigh up sale a few groups of pregged open 2 year olds sold. A guy could have put together quite a few for about an $800 average. What are the odds of turning those for a profit with some feed and a bull turned in for 45 days to make fall calvers? Sell them the 1st of May to calve August 15th? I've got the feed, the pens and the money to buy them but not the ambition nor sense of adventure.
Whoever bought them has this plan in mind I'm sure. Wonder how they'll do? | |
