| This long string of warm dry days gave us the chance to make some big square bales of cornstalks which we rarely do. The corn was combined with a chopping head and the rows are on 20" centers. Thought we would try the hay merger to gather up 35' at a time and it worked great. Don't have all the final figures but we did about 500 big squares of cornstalks. It is very rare to have 10-15% moisture cornstalks in the fall.
The stalks will be used for bedding and possible filler for dairy heifer rations.
