Subject: RE: E3 Varieties

SC Minnesota
When looking at yield plots this fall, remember the non-dicamba beans in MN and IA where all cupped most of June. I have seen some plot data that the e3s where 3 of the top 4 in yield and other plots where they are all at the bottom. I just look at my fields this year. I had the same e3 bean in two different fields. In the one field the leaves were cupped for 6 weeks with 4-6 trifoliates stacked at the growing point for more than 5 weeks. This was my worst yielding field. The same variety was in another field further from any dicamba fields and those leaves were only cupped for about 14 days and this was my highest yielding field (only a bushel or two off of my best yield ever). I saw many soybean plots where you could pick out all the dicamba varieties in the plot driving by at 60 mph because there was a stark difference in heighth and health of plants. Plot data is worthless in our area because of this.
