West Central Illinois | I do a few hundred acres each year, not the large amount you’re describing. Your comment about if it had cost you that much per acre you’d have been broke a long time ago, I’d ask you consider that you should be making a modest profit on each trip through the field. If not why do it? You are putting wear and hours on your machinery, a retailer isn’t going to spray chemicals or spread fertilizer and lose money so why should you. A few years ago a guy called me and asked if I’d harvest 200- 300 hundred acres of beans as they were behind. I told him I could and what my rate is, he asked if I’d do it for less? I said no, I don’t need any practice. No hard feeling if you don’t want me to do it. He asked me to go ahead. I’ve never been higher than the custom rate guide from Iowa state or Illinois.
Sorry, I don’t mean to tell you what to do | |
