IMHO....factory JD rolls suck. Cut a window in them. It will pay dividends. The biggest issue with JD factory rolls is they don't allow a place for the stalk to easily enter the snapping roll. Calmer puts a tapered window that matches across to each roll to allow for good stalk engagement to process the stalk. We've seen it first hand. Calmer couldn't deliver on his first round of crimper rolls so he told us how to recreate the process by cutting off every other knife on a stalk roll...

worked fine for a short term solution. Pic below is what we run now...
