Wheelersburg and Lancaster, Ohio | What's everyone's thoughts? Since I was in 4h in the eighties it's been one of those things that make you shake your head. Never really bothered me just curious.
Our county has a carcass program where they measure ribeye and back fat with ultrasound. Take some other numbers that I don't quite understand. And crown a carcass champion. These calves are still able to be shown in the live show as well. My son takes part in this every year. He's always done much better in the carcass portion than the live show. This year the calf that won the carcass, places 9th out of 10 in his class. How can there be this big of disconnect between what we value in a show calf and real world production.
