That is the whole idea of a low carb diet. When you cut out the carbs something has to replace it, and that is fat. Low carb, high good fat and adequate protein is what a ketogenic diet is made up of.

Saturated fats have been demonized for 50 years. Now we find out they are actually very good for us. The only way they are bad for us is if we eat them with a very high carb meal. Then the carbs spike the insulin causing not only the carbs to be stored as body fat, but also the fats.

That is how a low carb diet works. It keeps the carbs low so insulin stays low. Then the body becomes primarily a fat burner (creates ketones) rather than a carb burner. Hi fat low carb will keep the fat weight off the body. High fat high carb will make most people obese and unhealthy in time.

At least that is the way it worked for me and the way I understand it.
