ND | I know someone with the location of "western ND" has posted before about their apple crop , but I cant find whoever that was(sorry)
Anyway looking at planting a few trees, as a few years ago we lost ours in a storm(tipped them over, unknown age). Would they grow well in a waterway with other trees protecting them from the wind from the north and west?
It's at the edge of a field that rarely gets herbicide(hay field, it only has kochia anyways), gets cattle manure every year and borders a creek that begins on our property about a mile away. Its never actual running water except for when it rains but its always muddy(the creek, not the water way).
Looking at NDSU varieties, like hazen as a neighbor has had good luck with the NDSU varieties, about 2 miles away, in their yard.
Attached is a poorly drawn picture as a camera either makes it look flat or very steep. Orange area is where I was thinking, about a 100 x 100 area. Also how far apart ideally?
