Subject: RE: Abandoned township road ownership

Highland Center, in Southeast Iowa

DonkeyShowFarms - 9/30/2020 21:39 In a county next to me that uses township's. Abandoning a road is a huge headache. Three public notices plus all landowners involved plus neighbors who "might" use the road which usually minimum maintenance dirt road. Most of time the road gets abandoned because the farmers want more acres. Sometimes if a neighbor by the road wants it open to drive around section than the road will stay open. Any easement issues the road definitely stays open unless everyone agrees to a easement which has to be accepted by county attorney as fair to all parties. In the county I live in roads never get abandoned unless a bridge fails and than county says "oh it needs closed go around" ...

So, not all Nebraska counties are set up the same as far as townships/metes etc?  That's intriguing.  Abstracts or title insurance on property transfers?
